Most of people have desktop computers for home use instead of laptops. So the guide for desktop computer users is necessary to avoid some common mistakes. Some common advantages of using desktop computers are upgradations of computer parts is easily possible, good quality display output (depends on monitor and graphics card), seriousness for work by sitting on chair in front of computer. So here are some guidelines for desktop computer users:

- for desktop computer user the seating arrangement should be comfortable so the user’s hands and arms will be parallel to floor, he or she can see the screen straight with appropriate distance in between screen and eyes.

- avoid continuous focus on computer screen for large period of time, just look towards anywhere for a while.

- take a break of 5 minutes after every hour of computer work.

- Microsoft office or OpenOffice, photoshop or image editing software, audio/video players, PDF reader, CD/DVD writing tools, and updated internet browsers are some common softwares which should be installed on your computer. Though the operating system provides some of them, the installed application enhances the performance.

- Always empting recycle bin, removing temporary files, desktop cleaning, removing unwanted applications is a good practice.

- Antivirus software plays important role in keeping your computer virus free and healthy.
